Happy New Year

Dear All, Went to quite a few games of late, to Weston Supermare and Scarborough, conference south and north. Stayed in hotels and had a ‘feel’ for

the places as I wrote articles for publication. Learnt so much about the places and people from taxi drivers, club officials, supporters and so many others

when on a morning run on the beach at Weston and walking the bays at Scarborough. These are important, the non league game is close to people and

vice-versa. The premier league is distant.  One thing that for me ruins football at top level is inane commentary, constant talk on TV over the action. I

have been watching South Asian Football Championship, Final is Vietnam v Thailand, no commentary. One feels like one is ‘there’.  But in any case watching

all that in pubs is for me a total bore, screaming about clubs that have no connection to their fan base, a game lost to people.
